March 23 - ?

*Our administration would like us to continue to post on our blogger.  However you will not be able to complete any of our projects until we return to school, so I will post where we should be in a normal school year.

Advanced Pottery

 - You should have completed your design for the abstract animal bowl project.  We would be currently working on that project along with your 3 other casts, plus your 2 other throwing projects.  Obviously you will not be able to make any of this without having access to my classroom.  All I can ask is that you finish your abstract animal bowl sketch.  Sketch your 2 other throwing ideas for the marking period.  Remember you can't repeat any past project.
The final project is called the "contemporary project."  You will research contemporary ceramic artists, pick one, and make a replica or similar sculpture to what they had done.  It could be anything!
Sketch this idea is all you can do.
If you complete these sketches, please email me pictures of your work.

Introduction to Art

- Yes I know, I am as mad as you about this outbreak.  I know a lot of you are frustrated that you didn't get to complete your plaster sculpture.  We spent a lot of time and MONEY on this project and didn't get to complete it.  It all depends if and when we return to school.  If we return, we will finish that project.  In a normal school year, we would have been done with the plaster project and moved on to the the clay unit.  You would be assigned 2 clay projects.
Project 1:  Create your own pinch pot character/creature.  You would be using a variety of clay-working methods to create a character/creature.  It can be as cute, ugly, or scary as you want.  The sky is the limit with your creativity.  Now since we will not be able to make this with clay, all I can ask is that you do a detailed drawing of the creature you want to create.  Yes add color.
Project 2:  Coil Pot.  Look up pictures of what a coil pot looks like and draw your own design since we won't be able to actually sculpt it.  It could look however you want as long as it has the coiling texture.  There can be holes in it, handles, and you can add designs to the outside of the pot.
Please email me pictures of what you have drawn to my school email.  I'm excited to see what you have created.

Advanced Painting

- Hi guys and gals!  Hope you all are well and safe.  Unfortunately we didn't get to finish our paint pouring silhouettes.  I was really looking forward to seeing the finished products and I'm sure you were as well.  If and when we return to school, we will finish this project.  In a normal school year, we would have been done with that project and moved on to the Surrealism Dream Painting.  This would have been your one and only oil painting and it would be based on your own personal dreams.  You all know this is by far my favorite painting because I love this artistic style and diving in to peoples personal dreams.
Plus, you would have been given your "take home painting"  to finish by the end of the year.
For now, all I can ask is that you DRAW your idea for the dream painting IN DETAIL.  Yes with SHADING!!!  I really look forward to seeing what you come up with.
The weirder the better!
Please watch this video on youtube to help you learn the basics of Surrealism and Salvador Dali.  It's called Get Surreal with Salvador Dali.  If the link doesn't work, just search it.  Then feel free to explore any other surrealism videos.  It's so cool!!!  I would like you to use these surrealist methods in your own dream painting.

Please send me your sketches whenever you complete them to my school email and don't be afraid to email me with any questions.
Thank you!  Miss you!

Fundamentals of Art (7th grade)

- Hey guys and gals!  Unfortunately we never got to finish glazing our clay projects.  Administration has officially ended the 3rd  marking period, so we are in a little bit of a pickle.  If and when we return to school, I will figure something out to get your projects glazed and fired.
In a normal school year, we would have finished that and moved on the Optical Art project.
Please google search Optical Art and pick a design to draw.  I would like you to draw an Op Art design and use any colors that you like.  Black and white is absolutely acceptable.
If you complete this, please email me a picture of your completed work.  You can use markers, colored pencils, or paint if you have it.
Remember, precision is everything!
Your final assignment would be creating a color wheel.  Look up color wheel designs and make your own.  Draw it first with pencil then please use colored pencils to finish it if you have them.  I would like you to only use the primary colors (red, yellow, blue) and practice mixing them to make the rest of the color wheel.  For ex. mix yellow and blue to make green.  Mix red and blue to make violet etc...  Don't forget the tertiary colors ex. (yellow-orange, red-orange etc...)
I look forward to seeing what you come up with.
Please email me pictures of your completed work if you finish them to my school email.
Thanks!

*See comments below.

****NONE OF THESE ASSIGNMENTS ARE REQUIRED!  As much as I would like to see the work that you create, I cannot force you to do any of this.  This is all part of the enrichment and review plan for our district.
Future enrichment assignments will be on my Google Classroom if you want to continue learning about art and the subjects that we've talked about.
